1982 Austin Morris Mini City

The Vehicle:
The 1982 Austin Morris Mini City, known as the “Lego Mini,” came to us with a unique challenge. The customer mentioned it had been painted with a plastic-type paint designed to peel off, but it couldn’t be removed as expected.

The Vision:
The customer wanted a fully restored Mini with some distinct upgrades, including a custom touch that would make the car stand out, all while keeping the charm of the classic Mini.

The Hurdles:
The biggest challenge was the stubborn paint. After several trials, we finally found a suitable solution to remove the unwanted plastic paint. Once that was handled, we could begin the restoration process, which required some custom modifications to fit the customer’s vision.

The Process:
After removing the paint, we lowered the car and modified the body shell to accommodate some very wide wheels and Italian Miglia arches. The 1300 engine was taken out, stripped down, and completely rebuilt. For the interior, we went all out, trimming everything in denim for a unique, stylish look. The final touch was a custom-made Lego Mini gear knob, designed to match the customer’s playful style.

The Result:
The Lego Mini was fully restored and transformed into a one-of-a-kind car, with a fresh look, upgraded performance, and a quirky, personalized touch that made it stand out from the crowd. The customer was thrilled with the results and the unique, fun additions we made.
